 Bon Accord mid week. Just the right number of boats, although the club was closed due to their sewage system failing so they had to close for health and safety reasons. We were so looking forward to a beer and fish and chips. Ours has been busy with visitors, and other activities and we are expecting our boy in America to arrive mid-March. Summer has arrived with a vengeance after a long absence. Manutaki has just arrived back home after a week sailing with the relies from Dunedin in great weather. Yesterday was the first time we came back when the weather was good. Other times we came back to avoid forecast adverse weather. We would have liked to have had a bit more breeze at times when sailing between anchorages. The WYC Sailors messenger site has worked well and we caught up with six other WYC members on our various trips. We also had a chat to Rob and Jen on Island Romance Observations
We have prepared a montage of the various WYC activities over the last 25 years which will be screening during the garden party. If you want a copy, you will need to bring along a memory stick or laptop that can take a file of up to 2 GB. Three Sheets to the Wind We use the term "three sheets to the wind" to describe someone who has too much to drink. As such, they are often bedraggled with perhaps shirttails out, clothes a mess. The reference is to a sailing ship in disarray, that is with sheets (lines -- not "ropes" -- that adjust the angle at which a sail is set in relation to the wind ) flapping loosely in the breeze. Even worst Bad joke of the month An older couple were lying in bed one night. The husband beginning to fall asleep but the wife was in a romantic mood and wanted to talk. She says to her husband, “You use to hold my hand when we were courting.” Wearily he reached across, held her hand for a second and tried to get back to sleep. A few moments later she said, “Then you use to kiss me.” Mildly irritated, he reached across, gave her a peck on the cheek and settled down to sleep. Thirty seconds later she said, “Then you use to bite my neck” Angrily, he threw back the bed clothes and got out of bed. “Where are you going? “she asked. “To get my teeth!” |
