Westhaven Yacht Club, Auckland, New Zealand
A bunch of posers at the AGM Birthdays July Wayne McEwan August Lynne McAven, Barbara Gibson Rob’s Ramblings – aka Commodore’s Report The first half of the year has gone, the days are getting longer and we have just had our AGM. It has been a busy few months for the club and we have had a number of off the water events with good attendances and a fun time had by all. The past year has seen a number of midweek informal club events most of which were well attended and are mentioned in Barbara’s report. The Gold cards are very handy once you know how to use them. Pam and I have really enjoyed participating in these events. We particularly enjoyed our most recent trip to Waiheke on Korora which included spending time with Ship’s Master Shaun in the (wheel less) Wheelhouse mid-journey from Waiheke to Auckland. The AGM was well attended and a good time held by all. Thanks Liz and Bill. The AGM meeting was held with, in the absence of others being nominated, the past year’s committee being reinstated. If anyone wants to self-nominate for our committee they would be most welcome to join us. The previously circulated recommendation regarding subscriptions being aligned with the WYC constitution, and more equitably reflecting how subscriptions are spent was passed. Accordingly subscriptions for the coming year be as follows:
It is noted that subscriptions need to be paid directly into the club’s bank account as cheques are no longer accepted by our bank. The social committee has organised, or is organising, a series of on the land events which has been circulated for feedback. Contact Barbara McEwan if you have some suggestions. A draft sailing programme has also been circulated. Awards for the past year The fishing prize has been awarded to Grahame Probert for catching the biggest fish during a club event. We have decided not to award the old fox trophy this year due to the scheduled events being cancelled. The Centaurus cup is awarded to Bill and Liz McCook and Liberte for their effort in getting back on the water after the passing of Rite off and their hospitality in hosting events over past years. This year the Commodore’s cup has been awarded to Grahame to recognise the assistance he has given to me on various matters and the hours he spends putting the magazine together thank you Grahame. And finally, I would like to thank the committee for the work they have put in over the past years. Without their enthusiasm, the club would not be what it is today.
